Vx-Underground & SentinelOne Malware Research Challenge (VUSMC) – Official Terms
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS (“TERMS AND CONDITIONS”) BEFORE ENTERING THE CONTEST. THIS IS A LEGALLY BINDING AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU AND SENTINELONE, INC. (“SENTINELONE”) ESTABLISHING THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH YOU ARE ENTITLED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE CONTEST. BY ENTERING THE CONTEST BY FULFILLING ALL REQUIREMENTS DESCRIBED BELOW, YOU CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTOOD, AND AGREE TO ABIDE BY, THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
1. SPONSOR
These Terms and Conditions govern the Vx-Underground & SentinelOne Malware Research Challenge (the “Contest”). SentinelOne, Inc. located at 444 Castro St., Suite 400, Mountain View, CA 94041 is the Contest sponsor (“SentinelOne” or “we”).
2. ENTRY PERIOD
The Contest starts at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time (PT) on February 15, 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on March 15, 2023 when all malware research must be submitted (“Entry Period”).
3. ELIGIBILITY
The Contest participant (“Participant” or “you” and “your”) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to participate and win the Prize and only Participants residing in the United States are eligible to accept the MacBook Pro Prize. Minors must have consent of a parent or legal guardian.
If you are participating in your capacity as an employee, it is your sole responsibility to comply with your employer’s gift policies. SentinelOne will not be party to any disputes or actions related to this matter.
Employees and directors of SentinelOne and its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising agencies are not eligible, nor are persons involved in the execution or administration of this Contest, or relatives of each of the above.
4. NO GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES
U.S. public-sector customers are not eligible for this promotion, including employees of federal, state, and local governments as well as educational institutions and libraries.
5. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS AND THE PRIZE
- A participant must (i) complete the online intake form by entering the full name and email, (ii) accept and satisfy these Terms and Conditions, and (iii) submit its malware research (“Fulfill All Requirements”) prior to 11:50pm Pacific Time on March 15th, 2023, for a chance to win: (a) a blog post on SentinelOne Blogs and Vx-Underground websites featuring the winner’s name and research; and (b) a MacBook Pro with an approximate value of (TBD up to $3000 USD) (the “Prize”).
- In the event the winner cannot accept the Prize, then SentinelOne will offer the Prize to the participant with the next highest score as determined by the SentinelOne committee.
- No participant who attempts to Fulfill All Requirements of this promotion after 11:50pm Pacific Time on March 15, 2023 will receive the Prize.
- Only U.S. residents are eligible to receive the MacBook Pro Prize.
- Delivery timing is subject to suppliers’ availability of the Gift and delivery within any specific time is not guaranteed.
- The promotion is subject to SentinelOne’s privacy policy.
- SentinelOne may change or discontinue this promotion at any time without notice. Void where prohibited or restricted by law.
- Please obtain the necessary approval from your organization before accepting any item of value from SentinelOne. Participants are solely responsible for reporting and paying any applicable taxes. Other restrictions apply.
- SentinelOne accepts no responsibility for Prizes damaged or lost in transit.
6. USE OF ENTRIES AND RESEARCH SUBMITTED
SentinelOne is not claiming ownership rights to your malware research (“Research”). Each participant who submits its Research to SentinelOne as part of this promotion grants SentinelOne a worldwide right and license to use, review, and analyze its Research for marketing purposes, including the right to display such participant’s full name and Research on websites, including but not limited to, the SentinelOne Blog and Vx-Underground websites.
By entering the Contest, you acknowledge that SentinelOne may have developed materials similar or identical to your Research and you waive any claims resulting from any similarities to your Research.
By entering the Contest, you acknowledge and agree that your full name and Research will be posted on websites, including but not limited to, SentinelOne Blogs and Vx-Underground public websites, if you win the Contest. SentinelOne is not responsible for any unauthorized use of your Research by visitors to these websites. SentinelOne is not obligated to use your Research, even if you have been selected as a winner of this Contest.
If a participant wins the Contest, then by accepting the Prize, the participant agrees that SentinelOne may use such winner’s entry, full name, address, and its Research online in any media in connection with this Contest without payment or compensation to such winner, except where prohibited by law.
Nothing in the Contest shall affect any intellectual property rights of SentinelOne in any product which may be the subject matter of this Contest.
7. WINNER SELECTION
Potential Prize winners will be selected by a SentinelOne committee from among all eligible entries received by SentinelOne for this Contest. Winners will be selected from among all eligible entries received and notified no later than March 30, 2023.
8. GENERAL CONDITIONS AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent allowed by law, by entering into this Contest, you agree to release and hold harmless SentinelOne and its respective affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents from any and all liability or any damage, loss, death or personal injury that may occur as a result of your participation in the Contest. You undertake to indemnify and hold SentinelOne and its respective parents, partners, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees and agents harmless and indemnified against any loss, damage, claims, costs and expenses which may be incurred by each or any of them due to your breach of any of these Terms and Conditions or arising from your participation in the Contest.
All local laws apply. The decisions of SentinelOne are final and binding.
SentinelOne reserves the right to cancel, change or suspend this Contest for any reason, including cheating, technology, failure, catastrophe, war or any other unforeseen event that affects the integrity of this Contest. If the integrity of the Contest cannot be restored, we may select winners from among all eligible entries received before we cancel, change or suspend the Contest. Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law and may be banned from participation in future SentinelOne Contests.
9. PRIVACY
Details from all entries submitted in the intake form will be collected and used for the purposes of conducting this Contest (which may include disclosure to third parties for the purpose of processing and conducting the Contest) and for publicity purposes surrounding this Contest. The information submitted by you during the registration process or otherwise when participating in the Contest may include your email address, ID number and other personal information (“Personal Information”). By entering this Contest you consent to the use of your information as described. Except as provided elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions, your Personal Information will only be used by SentinelOne in accordance with applicable data protection laws and regulations and SentinelOne’s privacy policy referred to below, for the purposes of administering your participation in the Contest. 10. TAXES
Taxes imposed by any applicable government including incidental costs that may be levied on Prizes shall be fully borne by the Prize winner.
11. NO WARRANTIES
To the extent permitted by law, SentinelOne does not warrant that participation in the Contest or Contest materials will be provided on an uninterrupted, timely, secure and error-free basis; or that no computer viruses will be transmitted to your computer system as a result of any online activity of the Contest (if any). Any material downloaded through the internet to submit your Research is done at your own discretion and risk, and you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data resulting from such download. SentinelOne does not warrant the use, validity, accuracy, or reliability of, or the results of the use of, or otherwise in respect of the materials on the contest site or any sites linked to the Contest site.
12. NO CHEATING
You acknowledge and agree that no form of cheating is tolerated. If you are found cheating, as determined in SentinelOne’s sole discretion, you will immediately be disqualified from the Contest.
13. MODIFICATION OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS
To the extent permitted by law, SentinelOne may modify these Terms or withdraw or terminate the Contest at any stage without liability to anyone.
14. GOVERNING LAW
This Contest will be governed by the laws of the state of California.
