Enabling a global manufacturing leader to protect their competitive advantage.

The Challenge: Protecting Tens Of Thousands Of Endpoints Across The Globe

“AVX is a global manufacturer of electronic components, sensors, and antennas,” says Zack Moody, Global Head of Cybersecurity & Privacy at AVX. “Some of the threats attacking our industry today are only visible at the level of detail SentinelOne provides.”

With 29 research, design, manufacturing, and customer support facilities spread across 16 countries around the world, AVX Corporation is a leading international manufacturer and supplier of advanced, high-reliability electronic components. Offering significant competitive advantages, AVX’s production and delivery capabilities are optimized and tailored to meet individual customer’s unique application and just-in-time inventory requirements.

Leveraging nearly 50 years’ in-depth R&D experience, AVX contributes new, exciting technologies to the automotive, communications, consumer electronics, industrial, medical, military, and transportation markets. Found in many electronic devices and systems worldwide, AVX’s product portfolio includes capacitors, couplers, diodes, filters, inductors, resistors, and circuit protection devices. The company also designs and manufactures a broad range of innovative antenna, control, interconnect, and sensor solutions.

“I’m responsible for tens of thousands of endpoints in 16 countries across the globe,” says Moody. “The two things we needed were an endpoint protection platform (EPP) to replace the antivirus platforms we have today, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) capabilities for threat hunting throughout our ecosystem and endpoints.”

Beating The Competition Head-To-Head

“We tested different environments,” explains Moody, “both as on-premise and cloud-based installations. We ran SentinelOne side-by-side with Cylance, Carbon Black, and even some of the legacy competing vendors.”

Providing in-depth visibility into individual endpoints with a single, purpose-built agent, SentinelOne EPP provides full-context, real-time forensics with fully-automated, policy-driven response capabilities to eliminate threats rapidly. Each light-weight agent detects, blocks, and responds to malicious threats at the point of attack—before they have a chance to infect the network.

Surpassing traditional passive antivirus and EDR solutions, SentinelOne’s ActiveEDR empowers security teams with unparalleled insight into root causes and origins of identified malware. Providing situational awareness and actionable context, ActiveEDR allows them to quickly understand the behavior of threat actors and respond autonomously without reliance on cloud resources.

“ActiveEDR really gives us that visibility to pick up on these activities that are not organic to our environment,” says Moody. “Whereas some of the other vendors would lock up or almost cause a system shutdown, SentinelOne was taking care of malware in the background without affecting the user’s experience at all.”

Providing The Complete Package

“We chose SentinelOne based on all the features and functionalities that separate them from the others in the industry,” states Moody. “Two of the features that stick out above the rest are (1) they provide cyber insurance, and (2) they have a rollback feature.”

SentinelOne’s ActiveEDR performs network isolation and auto-immunizes endpoints against newly discovered threats. As a final safety measure, it can roll back an endpoint to its pre-infected state—minimizing data loss. Moreover, SentinelOne’s Ransomware Warranty ensures no ransomware attack goes undetected and causes irreparable damage. Do you encourage customers to pay up? Customers covered are reimbursed up to USD$1,000 for each affected endpoint, with a maximum of USD$1,000,000 per company.

“SentinelOne is easier to set up with integrations of Splunk and Netskope,” adds Moody. “It’s easier to manage. We have device control. We have endpoint firewall control. And SentinelOne’s support is top-notch.”

Ensuring Long Term Protection

“SentinelOne is truly the only next-gen vendor that is a single agent and a single platform in the cloud,” says Moody. “We’ve had nothing but complete success with them. The endpoints will always be there. They’re never going away. We’re really excited to continue our partnership with SentinelOne into the future.”
