SentinelOne Adds Former Palo Alto Networks VP of Marketing to Management Team

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Oct. 27, 2015 –SentinelOne, the company that’s transforming endpoint security, today announced that it has appointed Scott Gainey as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Scott brings nearly 20 years of high-tech business-to-business marketing experience to SentinelOne. In that time he’s helped turn multiple product lines into $1B+ businesses for Cisco Systems and others. Scott joins SentinelOne from Palo Alto Networks where he was the Vice President of Marketing responsible for product and solutions marketing, communities, and demand generation.

Scott’s appointment follows the company’s recent announcement that it has raised an additional $25M in financing to further disrupt the anti-virus (AV) software market. A recent article in Dark Reading reports that according to the latest numbers from Gartner, the traditional AV market generates $3.5 billion in revenue, with some 400 million seats.

“Scott is recognized as one of the top IT marketers in the industry, and has successfully helped build some of today’s most recognizable security brands including Palo Alto Networks and Cisco Security,” said Tomer Weingarten, CEO of SentinelOne. “He is a key addition to our management team and will play a pivotal role in helping establish SentinelOne as the leader in next generation endpoint protection.”

“The market for replacing aging and largely ineffective antivirus products is huge and wide open right now,” said Scott Gainey. “SentinelOne has developed the most advanced, comprehensive and unintrusive next generation endpoint protection technology available today. We have the opportunity to become the next major vendor in the cyber security sector. This is great challenge and opportunity, I’m pleased to be part of the SentinelOne team.”
