SentinelLabs’ Juan Andrés Guerrero-Saade Bestowed Presidential Volunteer Service Award for Cyber Defense Contributions

Breaking New Ground: Celebrating a Milestone in Cybersecurity Excellence

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – September 6, 2023 – SentinelOne (NYSE: S), a global leader in autonomous cybersecurity, today announced that Juan Andrés Guerrero-Saade, Senior Director of SentinelLabs, has been awarded the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). The accolade marks the first time that the PVSA has been awarded in the realm of cybersecurity, and recognizes Guerrero-Saade’s work in cyber threat research and analysis and commitment to keeping the nation’s digital infrastructure, and the users who rely on it, safe from malicious attacks.

In the rapidly evolving landscape of cyber threats, public-private partnership is not a luxury; it’s a necessity, because you have no police in cyberspace, only companies like SentinelOne who are trying to defend the landscape,” said Migo Kedem, Vice President of Growth, SentinelOne and Creator of SentinelLabs. “By acknowledging Juan Andres’ contributions with the PVSA, the government is setting a new precedent, recognizing the critical role that the private sector plays in national cybersecurity.

Renowned for his deep dives into cyber threat research and analysis, notably in the areas of malware and advanced persistent threats (APTs), Guerrero-Saade has helped to advance cyber threat intelligence and analysis, leading to the development of tools to scale cybersecurity, and investigations of high-risk nation-state operations. He previously served as a Senior Cybersecurity and National Security Advisor to the President of Ecuador (2012-2013), Google Chronicle’s Research Tsar, co-founded Stairwell, and continues to teach at the Alperovitch Institute for Cybersecurity Studies at Johns Hopkins SAIS. His work is widely published and is featured as part of the permanent collection at the International Spy Museum in Washington D.C.

In a world whose basic needs, health, and safety is increasingly dependent on digital infrastructure, our nation’s cyber defense requires the commitment and leadership of talented individuals from every quarter, and most especially from the private sector,” said Chris Inglis, former National Cyber Director and Deputy Director of the NSA, one of the luminaries in cybersecurity who presented the award. “As we acknowledge their contributions with the Presidential Volunteer Service Awards, we hope others are inspired to follow their example in serving the collective needs of all users of cyberspace.

Earlier this month, I had the privilege of recognizing some of America’s top cyber defenders with the President’s Volunteer Service Award,” said Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Director Jen Easterly. “Cyber defense is national defense and working collaboratively together is critical to a cyber secure future. Our nation is safer and stronger today because of the selfless service of these cyber guardians.

From Today’s Honors to Tomorrow’s Innovations

Juan Andrés will continue his work to advance the cybersecurity frontier when he unveils his next research discovery at LABScon 2023, the premier conference dedicated to advancing cybersecurity research for the benefit of global digital defense, which will take place at the Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia in Scottsdale, AZ September 20-23.
