The Imperative: Global Business Continuity
From St. Louis to Shanghai, Barry-Wehmiller operates across more than 200 locations worldwide. The $3.6B manufacturing leader designs and engineers the critical machinery that powers everyday production, from sustainable packaging to food and beverage systems.
“Our sites share data across regions, and customers trust us with theirs,” explained Martin Schlüter, Security Operations Team Leader. “If security fails, it goes well beyond IT to impact the business and our customers.”
To maintain global operational continuity, the security team needed to replace legacy tools that:
- Degraded endpoint performance and eroded user trust
- Generated hundreds of alerts per day, overwhelming analysts with noise
- Provided limited visibility across endpoints, users, and attack paths
- Required slow, manual investigations with incomplete context
“My team was responding to an avalanche of alerts, hundreds per day,” recalled Roftiel Constantine, Chief Information Security Officer.
Autonomous Protection at Global Scale
During a proof of concept, SentinelOne Singularity met Barry-Wehmiller’s requirements for autonomous protection, deep endpoint visibility, and seamless integration into its existing security ecosystem.
The Singularity Platform delivers machine-speed prevention, detection, and response by correlating static and behavioral AI signals in real time. It identifies and automatically contains ransomware, malware, and suspicious lateral movement before threats spread. An API-first architecture enables rapid querying of endpoint telemetry, correlation across 30 countries, and incident validation with full process-level context.
“SentinelOne’s open system allows easy connectivity with other systems, which is a game-changer,” Schlüter said. For 24/7 threat coverage and managed response without security operations center (SOC) overhead, Barry-Wehmiller integrated Wayfinder MDR. “Before Wayfinder MDR, we were planning on standing up a 24/7 SOC team,” Constantine said. “Partnering with SentinelOne for MDR was like turning on a switch.”
Autonomous Endpoint and Identity Protection
Barry-Wehmiller rolled out SentinelOne Singularity Endpoint to all 12,000 team members and immediately benefited from its lightweight, autonomous agent.
Behind the scenes, SentinelOne’s static and behavioral AI models continuously analyze end- point and user activity, tracking process execution, file activity, and anomalies in real time.
With SentinelOne, the team moved beyond manual triage. Automated workflows execute instant endpoint isolation, automated credential resets, token revocation, and forensic artifact collection, accelerating containment while preserving evidence.
“Before, incident response was entirely manual,” Schlüter said. “Using the SentinelOne API, we have automated many of those steps.”
With Singularity Identity, the team gains visibility into identity-based threats, including phishing activity, compromised credentials, and anomalous account behavior. By mapping these threats directly to specific user profiles, they can execute targeted remediation and localized user education, ensuring consistent security compliance across regions without increasing administrative overhead.
Hyperautomation and Investigation
With Purple AI, the team investigates threats using natural language queries, while Hyperautomation enables instant response without writing code, eliminating skill-based bottlenecks.
Previously, investigations often stalled due to incomplete telemetry and query timeouts. With Singularity AI SIEM, the team retains all telemetry for centralized logging and investigation, enabling end-to-end analysis in seconds.
99% Alert Reduction with 24/7 MDR Coverage
By integrating Wayfinder MDR across its global operations, Barry-Wehmiller effectively outsourced security monitoring. The MDR service acts as an intelligent filter, autonomously resolving the majority of incoming signals and escalating only high-priority threats to the internal team. “Before, we saw hundreds of alerts per day. And now, we have one a week,” Constantine said.
Confident Threat Readiness
The multi-year partnership between Barry-Wehmiller and SentinelOne has evolved from a foundational deployment of Singularity Endpoint into a sophisticated and comprehensive security strategy, including Wayfinder MDR, Purple AI, Identity, and hyperautomation. Together, these capabilities have transformed security operations to support the scale and complexity of its global manufacturing footprint.
The results:
- 99% reduction in security noise & false positives
- 90% improvement in detection and response effectiveness
- 1 actionable alert per week, down from hundreds per day
- <1 minute to complete queries
- $750K+ in annual cost savings through centralized logging consolidation
