Watch how SentinelOne mitigates and rolls back LockBit 3.0. LockBit 3.0 is an evolution of the prolific LockBit ransomware family. The LockBit family has roots that extend back to BlackMatter and related entities. Around June of 2022, operators and affiliates behind LockBit ransomware began the shift to LockBit 3.0. Many existing victims of LockBit 2.0 were “upgraded” with the new malware. In addition, the authors of LockBit have introduced new ‘management’ features for affiliates of LockBit.
Over the last few weeks, LockBit 3.0 has quickly made its presence known. Numerous victims have been identified on newer ‘3.0’ blogs, covering both new and ‘upgraded’ victims. LockBit has also been aggressive with regards to standing up mirrors for their leaked data and getting those new URLs publicized.
